One idea I had which I tried but never got round to finishing (one day maybe) was to take brown parcel paper or brown paper from a sack of spuds, cut into a triangle and simply roll or wrap around a kebab skewer starting at the wide end and then rolling to the point of the triangle, glue the tip then slide out the skewer seal it and add appropriate eye and top then varnish.

That's how I'm gonna do it anyway .........one day :Hat:

I posted details possibly over a year ago. If you search for zephyr floats you might find my post. Essentially cut out triangles (long and thin) from brown grease proof paper and roll up around a skewer or thin pencil and just glue the very last corner. Remove the skewer and plug up the ends with a tip and stem material to give a hollow float. Then paint and varnish. They take little shot hence best made hollow. Being on the heavy side they don't cast well because of tangles so best used short distances and cast underarm.

The shape of the triangle dictates the shape.

Couldn't resist knocking up this paper float this evening, needs more varnish, poor quality photo done in poor light conditions
