The only hooks I don't like are Drennan Barbel. Just after a few casts they seem to blunt, and my son lost a big fish when the hook straightened.

Yes, the only thing worse than a barbless hook is a barbeless one. :huray:

most hooks are now very good compared to a few years ago but still need to be a little wary as we do still get the odd few cr#p ones :rant:

Yea I can remember the jack Hilton hooks made by partridge of Reditch and good hooks they were too and funnily enough I did use em for chub but were a bit thick on the guauge but saying that you'd obviously need a very strong hook for big carp.

Very true indeed that the final crunch is if a chub snags yer it don't matter what hook you've got on :Wink:
