I have to ask the question Shaun.

You might want to look at the Korum Expert Specialist hooks. Very similar to the old Drennan Specimen hooks.

Drennan super specialist, Korum Specialist and not sure if you can still get them, Drennan Carbon Chub for smaller baits.

A longer shank is an advantage with bread flake you can pinch it on tight to the long shank without masking the hook point mark

The older near vintage Drennan Carbon Chub are superb, unfortunately, if found on sale on the likes of flea bay, they'll only come in 22/24`s.....

Understandingly everyone has there own favourite hook patterns and wrightly so,

over the last few years I've been using a kammasan pattern purely for big roach and chub with extremely good results,
I've tried many a pattern every season but just couldn't find a hook that I could onestly say that I thought was upto the job,

The pattern in question is the B560 wide gape swept point, it truly is a brilliant hook for roach being a fine wire spade end but is equally a good hook for even the biggest of chub, the hook is fine wire so if in a snag would normally just bend the hook and retrieve yer gear but also on the other hand is still strong enough whilst hooking and playing any large chub aswell as being a lighter hook which helps neutralise the weight of yer bait which in turn should basically give better presentation.

Brilliant hook for flake and crust

My hook up ratio has probably been around 95 % with very few bumped fish and losses :Thumb:

Since Drennan have made their crystal hooks hard to find, the hooks above seem to be a very similar substitute.

Yea totally agree with you mate, they are a good hook but haven't quite got the same wide gape and swept point as the kammasan have

Does anyone know if there is a replacement for ther B981 hook?
They're still available on Amazon and Fishing Republic say they stock them but you're right a) they looking to be going out of stock permanently and b) EBay is the way to go, best deal I could find was with rocketrigs.

With advancing age, failing eyes and arthritis I've given up on spade ends completely. Eyed hooks are bad enough, I've taken to pretying them at home using a fly vice and magnifying glass.
