Float allsorts

Post by Stuart Whiting »

Hi peeps,

was in me mates shop today, buying the usual hooks, shot, lines etc to stock up for the new river season and managed to find these floats through rummaging around in his shop for anything of interest :Thumb:

Anyone know what the two small dumpy ones are, to me they look similar to the little Trent trotters :holmes:

Definitely Trent Trotters. I've seen them on sale a while back.

Cheers everyone for your reply, I've got a couple of small shallow chalk streams not to far from me that these small dumpy floats should be ideal for trotting on :Thumb:

All the best and tight lines

The one with the longer tip looks like a ducker, another invention of Billy Lane.

Hi Stuart,

do you own a copy of Billy Lane's Encyclopedia of float fishing? There's a chaptre about the Trent Trotter.

I haven't mastered the backshotting pattern yet but I'm still working on it. But even without this backshot the Trent Trotter is a very useable little float for shallow water. It cought me the first fish of this year's season - a lovely little brown trout.

Greetings from Bamberg (where I call it Regnitz Trotter)

Martin
