Chris Yates old angling Jacket

Post by OldTackle »

Good evening gentlemen!

I wonder about the Jacket Chris wears in the episodes of A Passion for Angling? Is there a certain name for such type of jacket?

I am talking about the grey one made of felt possibly?

Regards,
Christopher

I always thought it was a felt one. The picture is from a news article, not especially from the A Passion for Angling episodes. But the style is like that. Im really after such a jacket for myself. Has anyone an idea for a good source?

Christopher

That's a Norfolk jacket Christopher, seem to remember "chubman"and others bought jackets very similar at a very good price.
I'm sure someone will be along soon with details.

It is a Norfolk jacket. I have one. Heavy tweed jackets of the highest quality. I love the huge pockets. A second hand shop (Rudolf Beaufays) in Hamburg has a few of those in stock. Sometimes they show up on fleabay search Norfolk Jacket or Shooting Jacket, etc...
I said goodbye to what I knew and embraced the ways of old, with it taking on the attitude that big isn't best.

It's a Full Norfolk jacket ... as opposed to a Half Norfolk. The difference is explained here :-

I got my Full Norfolk on a certain auction site for £60 ... but was extremely lucky that my size came up !!!

I live in mine this time of year. Heavy Scottish tweed, roomy enough for a jumper, scarf and happy days. My wife moaned a bit before Christmas when I did my annual shopping trip to Norwich with her...she said I smelled of fish. :Scared:
