Re: Gaiters?
The only thing I can find for gaiters is they are thornpoof/waterproof when walking stopping trousers getting wet - but wear boots for fishing.
Silly prices? I bought a pair of Chameau neoprene lined rubber boots 12 years ago - costs equal to about £8 per annum.
My feet have remained warm & dry ever since.

All I can say is the Gortex ones are the best because they keep water out and they are breathable so you don't get condensation through sweating while wearing them . Expensive but last years . Regards . Woolly Bear .

Re: Gaiters?
As mentioned I have them and they're definitely worth the investment, however a caveat to this would be they can be a bit of a pain to put on, and even worse when they're caked in clarts, take off. I read wellingtons have been mentioned, my grandfather used to call them 'ankle breakers' when we wore them on the farm. So to this day I refuse to wear them when doing any serious walking.

Re: Gaiters?
Wear them all the time. My shop imports Turtleskin gaiters from the US which really are for snake bite protection. Down here at the tip of Africa we get some serious snakes! I don't move without them and the peace of mind they give me can't be priced.

Re: Gaiters?
For anyone interested Aldi's have Gaiters in at the moment. £4.99 in a choice of short or long lengths.
Worth a shot to see how I get on with them.

I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Re: Gaiters?
My gaiters got retired when I brought some la chameu wellies. Much more comfortable, much more waterproof, as good tread as any walking boots I've owned. Also look smart!
