Post by Chubman »

am i right in thinking male grayling have a larger dorsal fin than females, ive also noticed some of the fish ive been catching have different mouth shapes, some appear to have a more pronounced top lip,is this a male fish?

from experience it is hard to tell the sex apart on juvenile fish

fish from 1lb up you can look at the dorsal fin, on the male it is not as long, but taller (almost square), the female's dorsal in longer and not so tall (more rectangular)

Males do not go much over 2lb, so it would be safe to assume any over this weight are Female
