Dick Walker on Rod Licence

Post by Trilob »

Matt Hayes just posted this on facebook:
Plans are afoot to put Dick Walker and his record carp "Clarissa' on the front of your rod licence. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Great idea, in fact I think he should be on the new £10.00 notes along with Izaak on the £20.00 and Bernard on the £5.00 . :Thumb:

Possibly a different order.....Walton on the 50, Venables on the 20, Sheringham on the 10 and Walker on the 5........

That will be the prices of anything with his name on sky rocketing from April then! :Hahaha:

I was talking to a bloke in his 60's last year, he was fishing across from me and came over to chat when he saw my rod, he recalled all the old split cane rods he had used over the years, he had been fishing since a boy, he looked over the rod and said "Richard Walker? is that who made your rod?" I explained he had designed it and it was the first purpose built carp rod, I told him about the record carp, he had never heard of Richard / Dick Walker

That is a great idea! It may get some of the younger anglers asking questions about why and who was he etc etc.
