Also walker seems to have been a decent sort. He even lied about the weight of one of his fish to a fellow ccc member so as not to beat him twice! Please clarify someone, can't remember off the top of my head who it was, but i remember yhat said angler shouted across redmire 'you've beaten me again Dick' and Dick claiming that the fish weighed equal to said anglers previous capture, even though it beat it by a few pounds. Now that's angling and spotsmanship. A true gent.
That’ll be Bob Richards...

The fish was actually 34lb but Walker claimed it was 31 1/4 so as not to upset Bob Richards who held the previous record.
(Interestingly Bob Richards was not a member of CCC)

I'll be damned. I thought he was. That's a really nice thing to do I think, and something I doubt happens that often nowadays. I wish I could have met the bloke.

If you get a chance read 'drop me a line' it is quite an insight into what a gent RW was. Maurice Ingham wrote to him out of the blue asking about making a rod etc and before you know it RW insists on making him a blank for nothing.

It's on my Christmas list! Let us all take leaves out of there books. We live in dog eat dog times, and helping each other out within something as trivial and glorious as angling will make our world a better place! St.

Scale from Dick’s record (Clarrissa) found by Ken Sutton in the sack at Regent Park Zoo and given to Mike Wilson about 1982 by Ken............

SK... thanks for bringing the action back to fishing (though the music still burns strong in my soul)

Seeing there’s talk about Peter Thomas earlier. Here I am presenting Pete with his certificate for becoming an inductee of the Carp-Talk Carp Fishing Hall of Fame last year.
