Just sunbathing

Post by Bob Brookes »

I went out today with the intention of catching a few off the top. Surely they will be having it! Having caught one common just into double figures, they just disappeared. A walk round the lake showed me that they were, like me, enjoying the sunshine. I counted 20 of them, although more were below the Starwort.

It certainly is.

Thanks for all the kind comments chaps. I tried putting a polarised sunglasses lens in front of the camera lens, but there was no improvement. It was just taken with the standard lens on automatic setting.

I did a lot of surface fishing in the heatwave (over 90F here in Dorset) we had in 2003. The key to catching them seemed to be to wait until after 8pm when it had cooled down a tad and then they would feed but certainly not interested in the heat of the day.

On the up side, at least you can see just how many big fish are in some waters.
