Chapman Kennet Perfection

Post by BobH »

As I mentioned in my diary, I built a Chapmans Kennet Perfection a few years ago, but I really don't know what the Perfection specifications are ?

It seemed to me at the time, the rod was a Mk1V with a false butt, 12ft long and a lovely rod that I use all the time.

I know Chapmans make blanks for many of the Split Cane Rod Makers, so it could have been a blank made for one of those builders.

Could anyone help.

I owned a B James Kennet Perfection in the 60s.

Unfortunately the cane went soft and had to be replaced. Then I used it for several years before giving it away, with a 12 inch downward set on it.

The rod was 11 feet 6 inches long in two pieces with a detachable butt piece which incorporated a 24 inch cork handle. The action tended towards the sloppy and I think I ruined it by skull dragging big tench from beds of lilies.

It had stand off rings and a jewelled butt and tip ring.

The action of this rod was totally unlike any Mk IV Carp Rod.
