500?

Post by Skinboy »

Bought this rod a few weeks ago. There is no name on it but it does have "500" written on,I think it is a Chapman 500 but I am no expert. The handle is 24 1/2" long built on an aluminium tube.

If anyone can help I would like to know if you think it is by Chapmans and if so, would it be "right" to Write the name on when I refurbish it?Also I have a nice set of rings for it and would like to add an extra ring,I believe the delux version had an extra ring so if anyone could give me the ring spacings for the delux that would be great. Thanks John

Tip ring looks right for a 500 but those whippings are wrong to me

It doesn't look quite right to me. The 500s I have seen and owned haven't had intermediates.
Maybe it is a kit 500.

The deluxe has a lined top and but ring so not likely to be, but it's a very good chance it's a 500. I watched this rod on eBay, not a bad buy.

Isn't the tip a little thick for a 500? I'm not criticising the rod, I'm sure its either a 500 or 550 type and will give great service.

It's possibly a chapmans blank that someone has built up themselves.
