My Peter Stone Ledgerstrike

Post by Mark »

My Peter Stone Ledgerstrike was all wrapped up and shipped off to Wal last week for some tender loving care and refurbishment.

From the pictures I sent John Chapman he has dated it as being an early model 1958/59. This is one of my favourite rods especially for chubbing, I can't wait to get this one back.

You could not entrust it to a more able artisan than Wal.

Mine's going to my mate Andy Sliwa for a bit of a tart up soon Mark. They are very special rods indeed and I'm looking forward to having it for next season.

Thank you to Ted and Paul for the kind comments.

Paul I only did a few before pictures of the Chapmans details to help me with the restoration work but here's a couple, one showing the writing, label layout etc and the other to show the difference in colour due to heavy dark varnish.
Its interesting to note the true colour of the whipping shows up better when photographed with a flash. It looked black to the naked eye but actually dark brown.

I also received my Peter Stone Ledgerstrike rod back from Wal today, again my photos do not do it justice.

All kitted out now for that five pound chub what with this rod back and my new net.

We are blessed with some truly skilled people in this forum ... and I'm sure Mark will add his own skills (and a 5lb chub) to Wal's wonderful work.

Well done, Gentlemen.
