I'm going to have to ask Mr. Chapman aren't I

While you're at it ask him why a 550 is called a 550? Is it because it's 10% thicker than a 500?

Re: why is a Chapman 500 so called?
I rang John Chapman this morning to order some rod rings and a new rod bag. While on the phone I thought I would ask 'the question', the answer is absolutely amazing,,,,,,,,,,,,, his dad just pulled the name 500 out of thin air, there was no rhyme or reason to the 500.
