Rod prices

Pictures courtesy of Traditional Angling (Steve Middleton).

I did not know they made a Grebe Major, for an extra six and half bob as well.

The most precious places in the English landscape are those secretive corners,
where you find only elder trees, nettles and dreams. (BB - Denys Watkins-Pitchford).

Do you know what year that was Mark, I believe that my MK4 Avon was £8 10s 6d in 1957?

Unfortunately I don't Jerry but I'm sure Steve might be able to shed some light on the year.

Thanks Mark, if my memory isn't letting me down on the price (I clearly remember small arlesey bombs being a big 6d around the time in BJ's) and inflation was so much slower generally then, the price list may well be 1959 or the very early 60's when I would assume there would have been a price jump with the then shortage of top class tonkin - just a guess. The other option could be that my dad got a good deal with Jimmy

What was the 'Peter Tombleson'? I'm pretty sure I've never heard of those.

At a guess, it would have been a rod intended for massive hauls of bream (that being what Tombleson was most famous for)!
