Whipping colour Mk IV, onion handle

Can any body please advise me of the correct colour whipping thread, it is the dark red colour, also point me in direction of supplier.

I will no doubt be corrected if I am wrong but i think the colour may be Garnet.I have some silk thread that when varnished directly(no dope applied)produces a very good match.I have just re rung a butt ring on a James Avocet with this thread.I am not sure how much you need.It may be that I could send you the spool for you to try and you could return what you do not use.Send me PM.

Thanks for the offer but I'm still deciding whether I need to do a complete refurb and in that case going to need a fair amount, I have a few colours so will try one without sealing to see if I can get a match

I think that Pac Bay Ruby Red is the nearest to the darkish red that was often used.
