Bought it last night just for the bag and butt ring, probaly paid a bit too much but I now have a spare tip for the future!

It's normally the top few inches of the tip that goes so there would be a fair queue if you decided to move the top section on.

Very true! Also a use of "genuine " spares. Love to know how it broke in the place it did.

I think somebody lost a big fish in his temper bent the butt end resulting in the break mike

My guess was someone inexperienced pulling against a snag. The guy I bought it from picked it up from a boot fair, so didn't know.
Anyone in desperate need of a tip let me know.
