Just acquired another Sealey Rover in what appears to be original unrefurbished condition. The high bell double twist rings appear to be made of nickel silver. Here is a photograph of the butt ring in the same style which I have removed ready to re-whip the butt section. My other Rover has conventional rings.Has anybody else comes across rings in this style on Rover's they have seen?

No they are unusual....maybe your Rover is a particularly early one. Hardy used rings like that before the war, copying those on the Allcocks Wizard, possibly

Many thanks Nobby . I have just re-whipped the butt section and decided to utilise the original butt ring after considering replacing it with an agate lined ring. It just on the turner after having its first coat of yacht varnish. Unless it causes problems when I am fishing it can stay like that.
