Is this a Dorset or a different model Williams ?
Rod Details:
10ft 8in.
3 piece split cane.
24in handle.
Restored at some time , has no Makers markings on the cane but has F T Williams stamped on the butt cap.
Full through action.
Looks very much like a Dorset apart from the 24in handle
Anyone have any idea ?

Re: Is this a Dorset ?
I'm not sure it is. My Dorset was a fairly late model and it had a 19 inch handle and was exactly 10ft 6in long when stripped down for rebuilding. This included the button so it was around 10ft 7in including the tip ring. Here are some pics of mine:

I've got the blank a/f measurements f you want to compare.
FT Williams did a rod called The Sire but I've got no details on it.

The 'Dorsets' I've had have had a more 'trumpet' handle, Sir ... but they could have changed over the years.

Re: Is this a Dorset ?
SeanM. It would be good if you could send me the measurements for the Dorset .
The one above is 10ft 8in including the rubber button.
Iv seen pictures of the Sire on another website but it had no rod details, but this looked to have a short handle and more ring,s fitted . 2 on the butt , 4 on the mid and 6 on the tip.
Mal. i Have pictures of an early Dorset with the same shape handle as the one above.
This is the 10ft 6in model with the writing in Indian Ink and no transfers.
It,s also possible that during the refurb the handle was extended along the cane to give better balance.

The winding check looks different to one that SeanM posted about in 'Related Topics '. I have a Dorset but it's still at work waiting for me to restore. So I will have a look on Monday.
