Yes! And I wouldn't think of a Marco Test as an Avon style rod, but I am probably wrong about that. Begs the question what is an Avon style rod? And I certainly wouldn't use one for trotting for more than an hour or so!

Avon rods tend to have through actions though, in keeping with their traditional roots. These actions don’t lend themselves to long distance casts, but then again most Avon rods are intended for use on rivers anyway, where short casts are the norm. "

I think the numbers are so small that with glue on the strips taking up the gap it's not a problem - some of the older urea-formaldehyde glues they used to build with were made up with ground walnut shell in them as a gap filler.
