I have just bought one of these. it's prompted me to have a look at my Scottie Avon which for some reason I have not used recently,a lovely rod.

I have both a Sharpe's Avon and the 9.3 spinner.

My spinner is designed for a multiplier not a fixed spool so the reel fitting is farther down, awkward!

Probably not Jeremy.My salmon fishing is usually on Lewis in the Outer Hebrides and in Ireland,where I prefer to fly fish.I acquired it for pike and and perhaps zander.I am currently using for dead baiting a Monk of Chester Spinning rod,a JB Walker of Alnwick salmon spinning rod and a an Allcocks "The Perfection" salmon spinning rod.
