How I make a Arbour for a Speedia. You can obtain flat sheets of EVA Duplon 230mm x 350mm and 3mm thick (this is the material used on carp rod handles) from a company that sells rod building materials, log on to: guidesnblanks.com then type in coloured Duplon EVA. Then all you have to do is to measure the width of the reels spool then lay the Eva/duplon sheet flat and with a strait edge and a Stanley knife cut one or two strips, they can also be sanded to get the correct width, they will also contract slightly to be a tight fit and then finish of with a wrap of pvc tape to hold it in place.

I did do one with two 1/8th" thicknesses of cork sheet once...by the second sheet the arbour was pretty much fully round in profile and the line came off it in perfect condition. As it was cork sheet I was able to cut it a couple of millimetres oversize and have it snug enough not to allow the line to get down the side.
