That's one of the last ones Cliff made. They were only anodised with the plastic moulded shoe in latter years.

Several different versions available. with/without ratchet, with/without handles, with/without drag and different sizes.

We struggled to sell the anodised ones. Just checked back through one of the catalogues I wrote. The Black anodising option was released in 1995.

With and without central brake on the spindle?

That's what I meant by the with/without drag.

Sorry Shaun - just very strangely placed unlike a normal drag.

Never sold many of those either. The most popular was the 5" with drag, with handles.

I, ve had mine since 1964--- £2-14-0. A fair bit to an apprentice on £5 a week. Great purchase tho.
won a few matches with it on the Trent and Witham.
Dont use it so much these days but would never let it go.
Only a personal thing but the "new" models really lost some of its appeal to me with the Delta name plate on the backplate, far better some nice simple engraving.

If you study that picture you can see a shield with a little fish above it, on the left of shot
as you look at it. Never seen that before, or am I dreaming?

NiceRoach, I will get this one out again, and see if I can get a clearer photo of the engraving. Which consists of a shield, with a fish above, and the words:-

ADCOCK "STANTON"
CENTRE PIN
NOTTINGHAM
EST. 1984

Sorry not a good photo, might try again tomorrow.

I live in Beeston, Notts and bought a Stanton from Cliff at his house in Beeston Rylands in the late 90s. Fantastic reel; I've caught all sorts with it and have never had any trouble with it at all. When Cliff sold the Stanton franchise on, he was presented with with a personalised new model from the new owner company. I remember him telling me he thought the new ones were heavy and he gave me a look that suggested his presentation reel would be more of a display item rather than in regular use.
