I have been given an Abu 506 reel but it is missing the drag knob that secures the handle (see pics) if any one would like this as a spares or project reel foc please pm me with your address etc.

Just found an Abu 506 M in the cellar. Probably part of a job lot of second hand kit I bought many years ago. I always thought it was a matchman's float fishing reel - does anyone still use these reels regularly ?
Trouble is, the fish just don't read the books......

Oh yes I do! In windy conditions preferably when smaller species only are expected due to line bedding after capture of anything big. Both the 506 and 501 with the anti-reverse removed and just 50 yds. of 2-3lb line. The larger 507 has a cult following even now I believe due mainly to it's larger spool.
