ABU 501 drag screw

ABU 501 Drag Spring - this is part 6855 - two questions:

1. Is it needed
2. How do you fit it? It goes below the drag control in the handle - but how, doesn't seem to fit.

Use this schematic to fit it, once the handle is on I think then you pop it into the reel then put the drag knob on top of it. I dont have one here to try it for you or I would

I lost part numbers 9523; 6855; and 6862 some years ago - but as the reel back-winds - having no anti-reverse - I just carried on using it.

Not really built for big fish, that's for the ABU 507, and not had a problem landing any fish, chub. dace, trout, roach, etc. when light trotting.

Thanks all, seems to work fine without 6855 but the part looks way too big to fit, I cant compress it enough to get the screw engaged.
