There was quite a few variants of those reels and I probably had 6 or seven of them, If I do a write up then I usually try to own 95% of what was made so I can get good pictures of them, I can do the history of them but without the photos, for me that's is a glass half empty or is it half full

As you can see from the photo I only have the common variants and not the rare or special ones.

Re: THE ABU CARDINAL 33 - CARDINAL 3
I was fortunate to get an email from a top collector from Holland who owns one of the rare intermediate Cardinal 3 reels with the Royalty badge on the opposite side of the reel, with his permission I have put the picture into the original post I did to keep it all together, maybe, just maybe I will own the reel one day.

I have added a picture showing the correct link for a 1st version Cardinal 33, I have been lucky to purchase a 1st version reel so took a picture of the driving link to show the copper grip washer that holds the link and the axle box together, was a very weak idea and was changed in February 1975 to what you see in the picture above, better still I will add pictures of both here.
Thicker gear is for the first version 33
Link on the left is first version 33 showing the locking circlip on the axle box

Re: THE ABU CARDINAL 33 - CARDINAL 3
There was a batch of reels re-issued, that were floating around unused in boxes for a while, I think they may have had a single serial number, anyone remember these?
