Abu Cardinal 6 - date of manufacture?

I know there are some Abu experts amongst you gentlemen.
A friend gave me his granddad's Abu Cardinal 6. It's cosmetically challenged but runs very smoothly. It has been a user and I will keep it this way.
I know that the number on the reel foot helps telling the date of manufacture. It's 780400. Any ideas, gentlemen?
It is my first ever Abu Cardinal. It will probably be good for some pike fishing I guess.
