it will be a true test of the quality of the cane to see how straight that top section is after Stu has finished with it :Chuckle:

maybe when he is finished with it, it should be passed on to a Certain Mr Yates i seem to remember he also likes to give his cane a proper workout :surrender: :Beg:

Nice rod, from the last photo there looks to be considerable strain concentrated above the ferrule for the first three rings.

Looking at the photos of the bent rod i do see what Nobby and MHC are saying but i do think the angle of the images has a lot to do with the way the rod looks [a little like looking through a mirror at the fair]. I did test the rod thoroughly at home before it went out and didn't see any excessive stress above the ferrule but be assured i will check the taper and if necessary alter it slightly .
Great work out Stuart..

I hope what I wrote didn't sound like either a criticism or that I think I know what I'm talking about? :Hahaha:

I suppose if you are going to 'have something in the butt' there must be quite a load on the area next to that butt..??

If you then stiffen that area up you'll surely end up with a thoroughly stiff rod...it's got to take the strain somewhere I guess.

A couple of months in and what can I say, Carpathia has done everything asked of her and bags more. Control, power, finesse, this rod really is something extra special. Here are a few of the carp she has tamed in that short period.

Blimey. Quite a gallery there, SK. Well tested rod.

Most impressive.
Will it be accompanying you to Ashmead for an ultimate workout?
