The birth of 'Carpathia'

Post by The Sweetcorn Kid »

Some of you will know Andrew and I have been discussing a new carp rod, something longer than the 10ft rods available and something that will be able to cope with more situations than a regular Mark IV, so that's how 'Carpathia' came about.

With dark cane, the 2 piece 'Carpathia' will not only look stunning, it'll fish incredibly too. A forgiving tip to alleviate hook pulls merges into a powerful middle, reserve power to stop those hard fighting fish we seek in their tracks and turn them from danger. I really can't wait to put the prototype through its paces.

The name? our own Beresford came up with it. Carpathia was the ship that rescued the survivors when Titanic sank. So the idea is that 'Carpathia' comes to the rescue during titanic battles.

The rod is now underway.....

I can't say I'm envious in the slightest.

Can't wait to see it finished and pulling those leviathans of yours out of the moat. :Thumb:

Two passengers from the Titanic who were rescued by the Carpathia had the surname Harris (they were not related).

Looking forward to the progress of this project with great anticipation.

Looks dreadful, can't think why you believe this is a good idea...

Looking forward to watching this develop!

I have an 11 foot Carp special from Fields of Highgate that I renovated, I must say the extra length feels just right in use. I look forward to seeing the progression of this rod, what an exciting project.

A tad intriguing! Taper, length, length of handle??? What were you thinking??? You could have just gone out and bought a 12' Salmon fly rod and cut a little off the tip!!! Only fooling!!! Tad intriguing all the same.

Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish
