" Whopper Stopper "

Post by James »

Another rod that will be added to my range. I have been asked a couple of times about producing the Richard Walker MKIII Whopper Stopper so here we are . I based the rod on his tapers but its not double built, i cherry picked the largest diameter cane which have very thick power fibres.
The rod feels perfect ,the problem with most powerful cane rods like the SU MKIV is they don't have any feel ,much like broom sticks. The Whopper Stopper feels totally different, its light and has the feel when you waggle it. fast progressive action of just over 2lb tc. Its a marvelous rod for short range work, oh yes it will work very well if you after large salmon or pike with heavy lures .
This rod has a fixed reel seat with a wood insert and a slightly shorter cork handle than Walkers.this meant i could whip it with the same number of guides as the MKIV. Note the nickel silver agate butt and tip guide , lovely..
