Dec 2017 was the first time I'd caught a Zander since then I've had a few more and they are becoming a favourite species for me.

I will post a picture of the modified float I used. It is a handmade balsa slider that I adapted, I added some reed with a swivel at the bottom and a small bit of reed at the top so you can fit a star light using the rubber tube that comes with them. I then float leger close in with a small bait, trace is 20lb soft wire, size 4 super specialist (barb crushed) and the bait is hair rigged on. The main reason for the hair was to avoid deep hooking and obviously I also strike early.

I fish for them in the traditional pike season so October to March but really it depends on the weather. Soon as it got fairly cold I had more success. I'm fishing in the Fen's the water was Roswell Pit, its pretty big and held the British record a few years back. Any of the drains towards Kings Lynn are also good, look at Kings Lynn anglings website.
