I can remember reading something along those lines......not sure that it was JS, but a good bet....the man was Mr Eel
" Angling is not an escape from life, but often a deeper immersion into it..."

I don't know the place whether it is busy or not but it will certainly boost the takings at a wild guess
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish

John Sidley?
It was John Sidley who wrote that but eels definitely get repeat captured. I have recaptured more than one with distinctive marks as well as other hook wounds.

What a beast! 60-80 years of age is very impressive . There was a great program on BBC R4 today about the life & plight of the eel in our British waters.

Ten years for every pound they say on a water with natural food, not pellets or crayfish. This unfortunate capture was never entertained by the record fish committee due to the fact it was a foot shorter than the record....I needn't say any more. During the summer months I almost exclusively fish for eels, well the past two seasons anyway. The ultimate challenge in my eyes.
