Mark,
No, I can't really remember. I have a feeling it was put there by a chap called Mick Lomas, of Sheffield.

Mark,
I've just found another image of the plaque on this forum. It's in Other Traditional Fishing Related Topics: General Traditional Coarse Fishing Chat:The Trent Otter. It looks like someone has cleared some of the tree regrowth away between 2007 and 2013, but there has been some more grown back.

Hi Ron, New to the forum and been reading up on earlier communications. I have a deep interest in J,W.M. and have done much research into his life and times. Respectfully I must point out that J.W.M. died in 1915 and was not a wealthy man ,far from it ,but that's another story ! I have his death cert. Also following the thread of this site I note the plaque on the tree on the river Trent. I was unaware of this. This must certainly be the only memorial to him for he lays in an unmarked grave. I will keep some of the details to myself for now, for to date no one is prepared to publish !! Regards Tony

Hi, Tonkin Wand. I'm planning to self publish a book on J.W.M. and have started the research, as well as rereading all the books. Like you, I think him one of the greats - his philosophy of angling and life tunes in well with my own. Are you hoping to publish on him too? Perhaps we could exchange views and knowledge?

Peter
