There are a lot of use sticklebacks on here, you will find a wealth of information rods/reels etc ,the list goes on .being also in my 70s .my. Advise depending on what. Fishing you like. Places you will fish float / leger ..A nice 10/12 ft 3 pce cane rod not to heavy take line 4to 6 lb .. Close in work a nice centre pin .or a small Mitchell where more casting is needed ..find your rod for restoring tell the guys on here what you have brought and they will steer you threw the rest. A few guys have brought some nice restorable rods from boot sales so that may. Be a option ....ps What part of the country

Hello young Dusty, and welcome to the forum.

Where are you based, as I have an old cane rod you are welcome to as a practice piece, if it doesn't cost too much to get it to you !!

Regards,

Mick'
