Good evening and a question please
Good evening and a question please
I have just moved to walmer in Kent and after a gap of forty years I am starting course fishing again with cane rod and centre pin reel, does anybody know where I can fish that is not private and for profit ?
Thank you.
Ps I fear I am going to have to relearn all the skills again - such fun.
Regards
Paul

Welcome,You have some of the finest coast in Kent right in front of you, Walmer and Kingsdown beaches, Deal Pier and the Sand hills up the other end going towards Sandwich. Cottington lakes at Sholden,Deal although commercial have some lovely places to fish with a good selection of species. Canterbury town is free but it does get busy with people tooing and froing. PS... the chip shop opposite the bandstand on Walmer seafront cooks the fish while you wait and I just love their Rock salmon. I do not live down your way but have fished the sea/pier there many times in the past and go camping at Cottington a few times each year.

Welcome
After forty years away from fishing you will find areas that are not private and not open for profit quite hard to find other than the odd free stretches through towns. You may need to join a club for some quiet fishing, should your conscience allow and don't forget the rod licence.
Enjoy the relearning, tolerate the tangles and rediscover the best use/waste of time known to man.
