Welcome Darren, you've come to the right place if you are looking to fish in the old simple way, of minimum tackle, and maximum pleasure. I like you gave up on the "kitchen sink" type of angling, and found I actually got more pleasure catching fewer fish, with tackle that I had either made or renovated myself. It might sound silly, but it's the way to go, the simple fact of being on the water, enjoying your surroundings, with some fish thrown in for good measure. What more can you ask for
