Welcome to TFF Mike.

God never did make a more calm, quiet, innocent recreation than angling.

Welcome to the forum, Mike. I take it you also started with a Black Prince? I graduated from a garden bean pole with a line and float tied to the end of it to a 6-foot solid glass spinning rod and an Intrepid Black Prince at about age 10, as my first reel. It brings back a lot of memories of bicycle trips to nearby spots, rods tied to crossbars, etc. This forum is a wonderful mix of restoration skills, reminiscences, nostalgia, history, shared expertise, and good cheer. It's good to have you aboard.

Welcome aboard Sir.
Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’
