Welcome whats the fishing like in that part of the world, especially the Mersey Ive never heard of anyone fishing it and it must be fishable in certain parts.

stefan the fishing on the mersey is great ive never coarse fished the mersey ive always gone seafishing there in the winter we get plenty of cod and whiting cod go over 20lb we get thorne backrays doggies flat fish like flounder dover sole ect also in the summer you get smooth hound and bass the odd strap conger
people i know have had carp to over 30lb and pike 25lb plus from the river on the upper stetches around warrington and manchester

The Mersey is a very good river to fish these days now it's been cleaned up never coarse fished it but have seen salmon jumping off the Gladstone dock and saw a 28lb cod caught back in 1980s the coarse fishing is supposed to be good higher up river mike :Hat:

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!
