Hi everyone,
just a quick hello to introduce myself.
My name is Dave, i'm 50 years old...i've only just turned 50 but that still seems strange to put down in writing lol!
I've fished since I was 7 years old, strange really as none of my family fish at all...so had to figure it out on my own mostly.

it's a bit of a cliche, but it all started when I first picked up a mr crabtree goes fishing book (aged 6 and 3/4 ish).
And saw a small spinning rod and reel in the window of a second hand shop in the high street.
I hadn't ever even been fishing then, but i was already hooked!
So I pestered my mum and Dad relentlessly to buy them for my 7th birthday.
I hadn't a clue how to fish, but I had a book, and now a rod and reel, and a burning desire to go fishing!

I've fished for lot's of different species over the years, from stick float trotting for chub on the Avon, and Trent, feeder fishing for barbel on the Severn, to fishing the lift method for tench and crucian carp on small local pools and canals.
Lately I have concentrated mostly on carp fishing, but recently have a nostalgic desire to recapture the more traditional methods and tackle of my youth.

So I will mostly be posting questions about items of equipment and such, as I slowly collect enough tackle to get back on the bank 'old style'.
Oh, and I just bought a rod today! feels like i'm 7 again lol!
Many Thanks,
Dave.

Welcome to the TFF Dave. I suspect that the forum will lead to further rod purchases as well...... :Thumb:

not far off, yes a spinning rod but not so small.
