Where there is a will there is a way Dave, a lovely introduction and I do hope you try to get out on the bank. A friend of mine has arthritis in his hands and they very contorted and painful so I understand where you are coming from. I love your made up rod on the wall, me and the wife love things like that. :Thumb:

Welcome aboard Dave!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Thank you for the warm welcomes everyone.
Paul F,
Thanks for the idea concerning changing my user name. I just thought that with so many Dave’s in the world an extra letter from the alphabet would still not be enough. Therefore tomorrow I will change to, Dave I P, my middle and surname. Also, I think I shall use the farthing photo as my avatar.
Jardine,
Do I still fish? Sadly no, I hope this won’t get me de-frocked or disgorged or whatever happens to we ex-fishing types. The arthritis has got the better of me. I can’t get down easily, let alone get up again and my grip and dexterity have gone. Added to which standing in damp places is not a good idea. However I’m always in good spirits, no one likes a moaner… anyway we Brits are made of sterner stuff aren’t we?

Sorry to hear you will not be able to make it to the bankside Drifton, my mate is the same he cannot hold anything with his hands, which is sad as although he is not a Angler he was a DIY fanatic and of course that can no longer be practiced. Enjoy the forum and I look forward to reading any views you have on subjects brought up by others or your good self. Kindest regards, :Hat:
