Good afternoon Ladies and Gents, firstly I`d like to thank Admin for allowing me to join this forum, I`ve been fishing for the past 50 years , firstly with a Winfield ( Woolworths) cane rod , and latterly with more modern materials , I was given my first center pin over 30 years ago , a JW Youngs Trudex , and still use it for my still water tinca fishing and barbel fishing , I also have a Garry Mills Grayling Perfection which I use for everything else , trotting on small rivers , my local canal ( the Grand Union at Berkhamsted ) and for static fishing on small club waters chasing those elusive crucians , recently I was given a cane rod by a dear old friend , he said it would give me something to do during the winter months - its a Edgar Sealey `Nu cane ` float rod , complete with its original bag , the line guides were pretty rusted all except the tip which looks to be the original ( white ceramic liner ) , the mid section has a damaged male ferrule , and at present I`m trying to locate a replacement , I intent to sympathetically rebuild this old girl and use it on the canal , and local rivers for roach , chub and perch with my Mills pin. I have been following some of the previous posts regarding the restoration of other Nu cane float rods and now feel confident enough to tackle this one..
Time spent watching the tip of a float is time spent learning ...

The good angler is not the one with expensive equipment. Common sense, observation and trying to realize
what is happening above and below water will catch fish no matter what price equipment you fish with.

Welcome, and good luck with the rod restoration.
There is already lots of information on the Forum about rod renovation, but don't be shy of asking for advice. Everyone is always VERY helpful.
