Post by The Mudway Dangler »

Hello, my name is Paul Waghorn, in recent years I've seen my fishing habits reverting to tackle I used as a kid in the very early seventies. I had a cane rod of about 10' which If I recall correctly was hexagonal in shape and dearly want to replace that long lost item. The reel I had was an 'INVICTA' a tiny silver centre pin.
I recall getting a lot of stick when I was thirteen about having 'old' gear so bowed to pressure by spending my hard earned paper round money on an Intrepid Black Prince. I've since found a very good conditioned INVICTA on Ebay and my old whicker basket was still in the loft with a surprise packet of Woolworth Winfield Flies priced up at 35p. All my angling is done on the Medway and the Shannon nowadays, where the stick float is my chosen method. I'm hoping this forum's contributors will point me in the right direction on obtaining a new (old) cane rod, although I think I'll use my relatively 'avant gardè' Prince Regent until Santa brings me an old centre pin this year.

Welcome to the TFF, Paul!

You'll find a suitable rod in no time, that's for sure!

And than there will be another rod and than a nice centrepin and than another ... be careful, it can addictive.

Welcome to the forum, there is a company called the Tunbridge Wells rod company who made cane rods, now that would be a nice one for you to have and use.
