Hello everyone, and firstly thankyou for the privilege of being on this very inspirational forum, I’ve recently fallen back in love with carp fishing after a 10 year break fishing for barbel, getting back to carp was to me an avenue which I decided that my heart was falling to a different approach to not only carp but also to life . The modern carper has lost in my eyes the way in fishing . Regarding gadgets over enjoyment and that sense of being there . I’ve got rid of all my modern gear now and own a Richard walker split cane and Mitchell 300 ( to some I suppose this is still modern). But now have the beauty of cane in my palm. I began angling in 1977 fishing with woolworth’s tackle progressing to buying proper tackle from a tackle shop. I grew up in the Darenth valley chasing minnows and gudgeon , finally catching a chub off 2lb ! A monster for me .
Anyway I graduated to Darenth lakes and fished for carp getting my first double from the pond and then later after the barbel on the kennet and wye until I got to now . Enjoying being on the bank for 40 years has always been a part of my life and getting a different approach has come to me .yates , B.B. early redmire and the like have always been there for me and I wanted to get that sense of appreciation for getting one on the bank and not just wrenching it in on long shark rods ! So again thanks , I look forward to exchanging views and learning again through different eyes the excitement of cane appreciation.

Welcome from North Worcestershire - a B.James MkIV and Mitchell 300 with free lined bread flake gave me my best ever Carp albeit in 1986.
