Introducing myself

Post by Tanglemaster »

Evening fellow members, i am Tanglemaster. A name chosen for a very good reason! Tangled nylon, poor casting and lost floats have blighted my angling for half a century and despite what some might consider a level of experience consistent with many years alongside rivers in the North West, canals and still waters of varying size, my basic skills have barely improved! Despite that, i love my fishing, being beside water, and enjoy using tackle which at best might be described as vintage. I still have, and fish with, my first rod and reel - an11ft Forshaws Palace B Whole can rod with fibreglass tip and a Little Krakka centre pin - later replaced with an Intrepid Envoy reel.

The object of my desire though was a 11ft Richard Walker Mk1V Avon and an Allcocks Match Aerial and eventually the prize was mine and today i still fish with these still pristine items of tackle together with a collection of floats -some of which are my originals and others i have acquired since. Regrettably, my old seat basket will no longer sustain my weight! I still buy items of vintage tackle when i can but would love to buy a pear drop shaped landing net sometime.

I hope to make the odd contribution as a new member and learn from you guys. Tight Lines, Tanglemaster
