Ah yes the BP debate, I usually just called it simiply a lineguard :-). It's rare I leave them on the reels as I find them awkward to Wallis cast properly with them inplace. Sometimes leave them on if using big baits for ledgering.

most are pooly fitted for wallis casting with ,much better to do so without one ,i've tried using them ,even took the time to disect off the fixed lineguard of a okuma kennet with me dremal .but no they're not for me .

One thing I do enjoy doing is going to tackle fairs etc. As I'm not known the little incestual world of tackle dealing/collecting...its rather amusing to go to some of the fairs, likes of Redditch, and listen to dribble which comes from these Dell-boys come out with. Some poor Aerial which has had a hard life in a glass case with some stupidly high price tag....never ceases to amaze me the rubbish they spout about it being "in really good condition"....."won't find one like that lad".....perhaps they look at me and think ah a young mug ;-). Hahah think again you old goat and have a wash :-) Morning rant over.]

I think that is a little bit of a generalisation on dealers and collectors Badger - who, like any profession or hobby, have good and bad characters. To lump us all in as "Dell Boys" and unwashed goats is a tad unnecessary and offensive! (mind you - not all can be as fragrant as me! :D )

Appreciate them for what they are, chaps - don't get overwrought about value or price or who says what about them or who has what. Better still, avoid talking-shops and just use them, otherwise we're in Cork Street, West End gallery land and Christie's country, and nobody should go there.

Now I was 16 in 1983, having started fishing in 81 and stopped in 83 for all the usual reasons....But an 80s revival. I shudder and chuckle at the thought :hahaha: The tackle was good though.
