It's amazing how quick 80 grit removes material but you really need to do it outside with a dust mask.
Ah I see ... hole through the pen blank ... mount with nut and bolt and start to shape .
I will look into it thanks :Hat:

Save yourself the trouble John - I had a spare 5 minutes so popped down to the shed and made you a set.

PM inbound.

:Hat: Amazingly good of you sir .Thank you.... pm replied too .
I have started polishing the reel already and it's coming up ok ... just need to try and remove the cobbled together handle pin now . It may not be such a bargain if I need to get the £30 kit from Gary Mills

I would firstly find out what thread they are, I suspect there 4 or 5BA? There are online model engineering suppliers that will have something suitable.

Houston... we have a problem .
I'm only guessing It looks like the cracked handle may have broken at some point and an owner glued it up together with the pin . This would have meant the handle would not have turned . To remedy this I think they enlarged the hole in the spool and then used a bit arrangement on the bottom. I think this may have over the years widened the hole and made the handle looser .
Any suggestions from chaps far smarter than I on a fix for my pin ?
Looking back now at the auction images it is just about visible on the underneath of the spool ... this Is what I missed and why others didn't bid

That is a bargain John, even with the handle issue, but it sounds like you have that being sorted :Thumb:
