Re: Aerial popular
I have and do use exactly that for my carp stalking - loaded with 15lb line.
I would point out it is not a perfect example but it works very well in spite of a smooth lipped spool! Landed commons to nearly 20.

Re: Aerial popular
Can anyone venture a view of what "reasonably priced" means ? I've seen one at about £ 190 and think that is high but my knowledge is limited on that.

Re: Aerial popular
A good Popular 4-4 1/2” in above average condition will set you back a minimum £150 and this is becoming rare - most seem to be heading toward the £200 plus Mark from all of the Traditional tackle dealers and depending on which one even more. You can obviously try your hand and maybe get lucky on ‘THE’ auction site - but it is a lottery. The uplift in the classic Aerial ‘T’ reels has inevitably pushed the price of the Popular upwards - but in the grand scheme of all things desirable this makes the Popular a veritable bargain - but still pricey.

Thank you Peter; that is very helpful. It gives me an indicator. I rather like the look of them but my limited knowledge made me wonder. I am grateful for the view there.

Re: Aerial popular
4-5 years ago they were £350-400, now they are generally less than £200, when you compare that with a 4" Aerial which is essentially the same reel with a few holes at £400-500
