Not sure if I've ever shown you this Rupe, Hardy allowed the Ambidex to have its worm-drive gears and I think you once wrote that they had insisted, however, that the reel bear their patent number.

I suppose they felt the bail arm was just too much?

I rather like the idea of the two piece bail....especially when I have failed to put my line through the bail before taking the line up to the tip ring and tying on my bottom tackle. I have been occasionally making this schoolboy error for over 60 years now.....
