Thanks Mark

I agree with Shaun. Rod has always been very good to me and we have had many beers together over various shows even though I did 'pull him' for poaching [read guesting] at Savay about 1979 ish. Full story in Chris 's book 'The King Carp Waters'.

He features quite a bit in Casting at the Sun, until I read that book I had no idea how much he and Chris Yates had fished together.

In the late 60's/early 70's his advice re tackle and baits was really helpful for me, he even took the trouble to include hand written advice with orders he sent through the post, never met him but found him great to buy from.

I really enjoyed the Rod Hutchinson interview and then moved onto other interviews with top anglers like Kevin Nash, Peter Drennan and new generation carp man with log hair but I can't remember his name.....

I feel a bit like Kingfisher above, who says "living in Wales and not reading the Angling Press" that maybe he could have got more involved with the sport when he was younger. Trouble is you can't be everywhere; I was bringing four children in my thirties and forties. No regrets, but I am trying to make up for it a little bit now.
