After a double g&t to steady the 'old ticker,' I am able to share with you the latest update on the simply wonderful restoration of this rod being undertaken by CaneandAble on my behalf.

Fresh from the rod turner are the three sections, simply resplendant in their first coats of lacquer. After curing there will be the gentlest of ministrations to ensure that they are entirely free of any undulations, before being treated to the final thinned coats. His attention to detail is beyond question !!!

All things being equal these are the last photos of the rod before I take delivery next week ... just in time for Christmas !!! To say that I'm excited is, perchance, the understatement of the year !!! Like a small child on Christmas Eve, I may have trouble sleeping tonight.

CaneAndAble has sent photos of the rod now that the initial coats have been 'flatted', and the final coats of finish applied. A few days of curing and I'm hoping I will get my hands on it !!!

The 'honey' colour of the cane is mouth-watering ... as is the standard of the craftsmanship which has been brought out it's beauty (tyhough I may be biased !!! )

The "Cockburn's Special Reserve" is flowing 'Chez Ashbycut' ... and I'm already imagining the first cast with the rod, and the 'Roach Perfection' mounted on the handle !!!
